Snowpack stability

The snowpack is well bonded and stable in general.

Likelihood of triggering

Triggering is generally possible only from high additional loads in isolated areas of very steep, extreme terrain. Only small and medium natural avalanches are possible.

Stability

LAST BULLETIN OF THE SEASON: END OF SEASON, SNOWPACK OFTEN STABLE Spontaneous releases: Unlikely. Triggered releases: Unlikely, or a rare wet surface slide, occurring under skis on a very steep and warmed slope. Last bulletin of the season. The Grenoble snow science team wishes you a great summer! See you next year!

Snow quality

Snowpack Qualification: The snowpack is rather deficient for the season. After a well-snowed heart of winter, the melting of the snowpack has been particularly rapid in spring, with a warm and dry April, and a heatwave at the end of May... The snowfall episodes associated with the cool period in early May were only a brief respite for the snowpack. Some slopes remain skiable at altitude but require a long carry. Skiable limits: 2300/2500 m in North-facing slopes. 2700/2800 m in South-facing slopes. On foot, numerous snowfields still present from 2000/2200 m in North. Snow quality on Monday: Fairly good overnight freeze. Rapid humidification on Monday during the day.
