Overview

AVY Base (avybase.com) aggregates official avalanche bulletins from national warning services in France, Norway, Switzerland, Austria, and Sweden. This policy describes what information we collect and how we use third-party services.

Information we collect

AVY Base does not require user accounts and does not ask visitors to log in with Facebook or Instagram.

• Analytics: We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate site usage (pages viewed, country, device type). IP addresses may be processed by Google according to their privacy policy.
• Server logs: Our hosting provider may log requests (URL, timestamp, user agent) for security and performance.
• Cookies: Analytics cookies may be set by Google Analytics. We do not use advertising cookies.

Instagram & Facebook (Meta)

AVY Base operates the Instagram account @avybase.app and the Facebook Page “AVY Base”. We use the Meta Graph API to publish forecast summaries and educational content to our own accounts.

• We only access Pages and Instagram accounts that we own and manage.
• We do not collect, store, or sell personal data from Meta users who visit our website.
• Meta access tokens used for posting are stored securely on our servers and are not shared with third parties.

Bulletin data

Forecast content is fetched from official open-data APIs (e.g. Météo-France, SLF, NVE). We cache and display this data; we do not combine it with personal identifiers. English summaries may be machine-translated via OpenAI; only bulletin text is sent for translation, not visitor data.

Data retention

Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics settings. Cached bulletin snapshots are refreshed regularly and overwritten. We do not maintain a database of visitor identities.

Your rights

If you are in the EU/EEA, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Because we do not operate user accounts, we typically hold no personal data linked to individual visitors. For analytics-related requests, you may also use Google's opt-out browser add-on.
