Snowpack stability
The snowpack is only moderately well bonded on some steep slopes; otherwise well bonded in general.
Likelihood of triggering
Triggering is possible, primarily from high additional loads, particularly on the indicated steep slopes. Very large natural avalanches are unlikely.
Stability
LAST BULLETIN OF THE SEASON - RARE WET SNOW RELEASES ON NORTH FACES AT HIGH ALTITUDE Triggered releases: above 3300/3500 m, a skier moving late in the day can initiate a small wet snow release. A rare wind slab may persist in the coldest high slopes. Small avalanches (size 1), rarely medium (size 2). At lower altitudes, the snowpack is stable. Spontaneous releases: unlikely, as the rain or snow showers at the end of the day are too weak to generate natural activity.
Snow quality
Deficient snow cover, due to the particularly warm and dry spring. Observed snow heights: 130 cm at the Écrins snow gauge at 2970 m. Skiable snow limit: starting from 2600 m in the most snow-covered areas, locally 2400 m. On foot, snow patches are still numerous from 2100/2200 m in the north, much lower in avalanche deposits. Snow surface condition: completely humidified snowpack, except on north-facing slopes above 3300/3500 m, where snowfall on Thursday evening brought between 10/20 cm in the heart of the massif.
